Conveniently situated only 3 km from the Mighty Victoria Falls, Mukuni Big 5 Safaris is on the road to Chief Mukuni’s Palace. The road is an all-weather road easily accessed year round. We conduct Elephant rides, Walks with lions and Cheetah. We are also the only Company in Zambia that has a lure system that runs cheetah providing not only excellent stimulus for the animals but also great opportunities to see this magnificent animal at its top speed.
Mukuni Big 5 started in 2009 with Lion, cheetah walks and interaction, then expanded to include elephants rides. With His Royal Highness Senior Chief Mukuni being one of the Directors, we also provide a unique cultural background. We have an unrivalled view from our reception of the mighty Zambezi River, which is the first thing you see before starting on your activities.
Mukuni Big 5 Safaris is the only one of two companies in Zambia that offers Elephant back safaris and the only company that affords you an opportunity to walk and interact with the king of the jungle, the Lion. Mukuni big 5 safaris is the only company as well that walks and runs the cheetah on a lure.
Mukuni Big 5 Safaris is a private company operational since 2009. We are committed to the conservation, wellbeing and livelihood of our vulnerable African Lion, endangered African Cheetah, Elephants and Caracals. We are pioneering the breeding and hopefully future release of Cheetahs here in Zambia, this being the important aspect of our Volunteer and Cheetah Conservation Trust. We are also committed to the education of our youth using our ‘education through conservation’ programme conducted at our site for school children as well as at the schools themselves . We recognise the need for our youth of today to respect and conserve our animals for the future. The future of these animals are and will be in the hands of the youth of today.
Your placement fees go directly back into the project itself, for the improvement of the programs, education, feeding the animals, veterinarian bills and care, enclosures and many more for the betterment of our animals.
We aim to breed our Cheetahs and Lions for release into Nature Reserves in Zambia. Our Cheetahs who’s numbers have decreased so much that they are now endangered, the African Lion who are vulnerable. We will be rendering our assistance to the capture and care of problem animals as well of their relocation process into large safe areas where they will be out of harm’s way.
